Kyrgyzstan top destination, accounting for 40% of exports

Lower production costs, improved transport links drive exports

Uzbekistan's cement exports surged nearly 300% year over year to about 1.1 million metric tons in the first nine months of 2025, the latest data from the National Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Statistics showed.

Kyrgyzstan remained the top destination, accounting for about 40% of total exports during the period, according to calculations by Platts, part of S&P Global Energy.

This was followed by Kazakhstan with 317,000 mt, Afghanistan with 273,000 mt and Tajikistan, which imported a small amount of 267 mt.

Traders across Asia cited lower production costs and improved transport links within Central Asia as key factors behind the surge in exports, enabling Uzbek suppliers to offer more competitive prices in nearby markets.

"I heard that Uzbekistan has been boosting production of M-500 and M-600 grade cement, which offer high resistance to corrosion and harsh testing environments, making them ideal for Central Asia's cold climate," an Asia-based trader said Nov. 18.

Another Asia-based trader said that Uzbekistan has an abundance of raw materials like limestone, which lowers production costs. The trader added that the country's proximity to export destinations such as Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan and Tajikistan makes logistics much easier.

Platts last assessed cement (ASTM type I) FOB Vietnam at $34.75/mt on Nov. 13, down from $35.25/mt the previous week. Platts also assessed cement clinker FOB Vietnam at $29.75/mt on Nov. 13, up from $29.25/mt FOB the previous week.
