Cement sales in Brazil rise 4.6% in Sep
SNIC forecasts 2% cement consumption growth for 2025
Housing, infrastructure investments drive cement demand
The Brazilian cement industry concluded the third quarter of 2025 with sales of 6.1 million metric tons in September, marking a 4.6% increase compared to September 2024, according to SNIC (Sindicato Nacional da Indústria do Cimento).
Year-to-date figures from January to September show a total of 50.3 million mt sold, up 3% from the same period last year.
Looking ahead, SNIC anticipates a consumption growth of 2% for 2025. The Union points out that the government aims to facilitate the construction of 2 million housing units between 2023-26, potentially increasing cement consumption by 2.5 to 3 million mt annually.
The statement said that investments, particularly in sanitation and concrete road paving, are also expected to rise, addressing the urgent need for improved road conditions in Brazil, where only 12.4% of the road network is paved.
"The cement industry demonstrates resilience by maintaining a positive performance based on a sales recovery that started in 2024," Paulo Camillo Penna, President of SNIC said. "However, the increase in economic uncertainties creates a cautious environment. Our projections for 2025 reflect this moderation, but the focus on social housing (Minha Casa, Minha Vida) and sustainable infrastructure solutions, such as concrete paving, are crucial vectors that will continue to contribute to consumption and the economic, social, and environmental development of the country."
Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, last assessed cement CIF Houston at $85/mt Oct. 9.
