Three sites in Norway, mainland Europe

London — Renewable hydrogen company Everfuel will work with Hydro to develop renewable hydrogen projects for Hydro's aluminum plants in Norway and mainland Europe, Everfuel said May 20.

Everfuel has signed an MOU with Hydro's renewable hydrogen company to establish a framework for cooperation on the project to develop renewable electricity-powered electrolyzers, it said in a statement.

The electrolyzers will be built next to Hydro-owned aluminum plants, with three sites identified for initial development.

"Hydro is a partner of choice for us as we prepare to expand from project development in Scandinavia, Benelux and Germany to building our presence across Europe in the coming years," Everfuel CEO and founder Jacob Krogsgaard said.

S&P Global Platts last assessed the cost of producing hydrogen via alkaline electrolysis in the Netherlands (including capex) at Eur3.95/kg ($4.83/kg) May 19. PEM electrolysis production was assessed at Eur4.99/kg.
