To switch to Integrated Minerba Digital System by 3rd week of Sept
MinerbaOne application functions will be shared in upcoming socialization sessions
The Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, or ESDM, officially announced the temporary suspension of its Minerba One Data Indonesia (MODI) application, effective Sept. 1, 2025. The closure is part of a strategic transition to a new integrated digital platform named MinerbaOne, aimed at significantly improving licensing, oversight and support services in the mineral and coal sectors.
"In order to improve licensing services, guidance and supervision of the mineral and coal sub-sector, we hereby convey that electronic services for the mineral and coal sub-sector will be phased in, switching to the Integrated Minerba Digital System (MinerbaOne Application)," the circular issued by the Director General of Mineral and Coal, Tri Winarno said. Sept. 1
The document said that business entities would be temporarily unable to access the MODI application, and that services would reopen no later than the third week of September on the MinerbaOne application.
The services affected are account registration and modifications, as well as the documentation of permits, directors/commissioners and share ownership.
The transition will affect a wide range of license holders, including holders of Coal Mining Concession Agreements (PKP2B), Work Contracts (KK), Mining Business Permits (IUP), Special Mining Business Permits (IUPK), IUPK as a continuation of contract/agreement operations, People's Mining Permits (IPR), Rock Mining Permits (SIPB), and Transportation and Sales Permits.
"The export of coal remains unaffected; the transition only impacts company documentation, and I see no challenges arising from it," an Indonesia-based trader said.
The MODI application, launched in 2023, was an integrated digital system launched by ESDM to manage mineral and coal mining data, with requirements for businesses to register and update company information.
"This won't really affect the outbound shipments, as services related to data reporting and related services will be affected," an Indonesia-based miner said. "Exporters can upload the necessary details once the website is up and running by filling in retrospective dates."
Businesses that rely on these services have been encouraged to adjust their operations according to the announced timeline to ensure a smooth transition to the new system.
"Registered and regular exporters won't face any delays, but any new license seeker for exports will have to wait until the system works properly, which could be in the third week of September," an Indonesia-based trader said.
Further information regarding the implementation and functionality of the MinerbaOne application will be shared in the upcoming socialization session, the circular said.
