Ramadi facility to produce 1 million mt/year

Project 27%-30% complete with German tech

Authorities in Iraq's western al-Anbar province have begun construction of the country's first fully privately owned cement plant, a project that will produce 1 million mt/year of cement, Moaid al-Dulaimi, spokesperson for al-Anbar local government, told local media outlet Shafaq News on June 30.

Construction of the Ramadi Cement Plant is currently 27%-30% complete, al-Dulaimi said. The facility will use German machinery and chemicals, and is being supervised by Swiss technical specialists to ensure international engineering standards are met, according to the spokesperson.

The developer, Sada Al-Nujoom for Contracting and Oil Services, has built a dedicated 26 MW power station to supply the project without drawing electricity from al-Anbar's allocation on the national grid, al-Dulaimi said.

The plant is located in al-Anbar province, which borders Syria, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
