Red Sea ports absorb more cargo

Gulf trade spreads across alternative routes

The Middle East relies heavily on imported frozen chicken, with annual volumes exceeding 2 million metric tons, much of which typically moves through ports linked to the Strait of Hormuz. As access through the strait has become more difficult, import flows have been redirected across a wider range of entry points. Shipments are increasingly moving via Red Sea ports such as Jeddah and King Abdullah Port, while Gulf hubs like Jebel Ali and Doha continue to receive volumes where possible. At the same time, alternative ports in the Gulf of Oman have seen increased activity. This infographic shows how trade flows are being rerouted across multiple ports to maintain supply into key Middle East markets.
