In an effort to promote greater clarity and increase transparency in the market, S&P Global Platts is proposing to change the name of its US FOB petcoke assessments and replace the pricing ranges with a single price. The following name changes are proposed: FOB US Gulf Coast 6% sulfur (CPAAA00) would be renamed FOB US Gulf Coast High Sulfur Petcoke, and would be normalized to 6.5% sulfur petcoke; FOB US Gulf Coast 4%-5% Sulfur (CPAAF00) would be renamed FOB US Gulf Coast Mid Sulfur Petcoke, and would be normalized to 4.5% sulfur petcoke; FOB US West Coast =2.5% Sulfur (CPAAC00) would be renamed FOB US West Coast Mid Sulfur Petcoke, and would be normalized to 3% sulfur petcoke; FOB US West Coast 2.5% Sulfur (CPAGG00) would be renamed FOB US West Coast Low Sulfur Petcoke, and would be normalized to 3% sulfur petcoke. In addition, Platts is proposing eliminating high and low pricing ranges from its US petcoke assessments, replacing them with a single assessed price. Further details about the changes will be made available in the US petcoke methodology guide once they have been implemented, which will be February 22, 2017. The affected codes are published weekly on Global Coal Alert page 960, in Market Data category CI, in Coal Trader and Coal Trader International. Please address any questions or comments by January 13, 2017 to coal@spglobal.com and pricemethodology@spglobal.com. For written comments, please provide a clear indication if comments are not intended for publication by Platts for public viewing. Platts will consider all comments received and will make comments not marked as confidential available upon request.
