Further to a previous announcement and following market feedback, Platts will postpone the reset to its Global Gasoil Index from January 3, 2012, to February 1, 2012.
Effective February 1, 2012, Platts will renew the calculation used in determining the World Gasoil Index, which is currently published on Platts Global Alert page 537 and the Oilgram Price Report.
Note that the global gasoil index will be published on PGA116 effective January 3, 2012.
The Platts World Gasoil Index is a weighted average of Platts' gasoil and diesel assessments from global trading and supply centers with the weightings representing a broad view of the proportional demand for gasoil and diesel around the world.
The new index will include a wider range of assessments including those for Northwest Europe, Mediterranean Europe, Singapore, Australia, South China, India, North America, Middle East and Africa, Latin America and Russia and will use the value calculated for the year 2000 as the basis year.
A spreadsheet detailing the weightings applied to each region and each product is available upon request.
