Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, is proposing to discontinue the following Egyptian rice weekly assessments, and their related volatility calculations, effective Feb. 3, 2023.
Platts suspended its Egyptian head rice assessments in April 2016 and broken rice assessment in August 2016 following the Egyptian government's decision to ban all rice exports and limit rice production to conserve water supplies in the country. Exports of rice continue to be banned to date, with no sign of any change in policy in the foreseeable future. As a result, Platts proposes to discontinue these assessments.
