S&P Global Platts proposes to change the frequency of certain US and Latin American steel assessments.
Platts proposes to increase the frequency of Brazilian domestic HDG and CRC assessments to weekly from monthly. Platts further proposes to reduce the frequency of its US domestic and import rebar assessments to weekly from daily.
Platts is proposing the changes as a result of changing market dynamics involving the respective products.
Platts seeks market feedback on its proposal by Friday, December 14th 2018 and proposes to make these changes effective from Friday, February 1st, 2019.
Details of the assessments proposed for frequency increases are as follows:
HDG Brazil Dom Prod Ex-Works Excl Taxes, BRL/ton - code SB01117 CRC Brazil Dom Prod Ex-Works Excl Taxes, BRL/ton - code SB01080
Platts also proposes to change the frequency of US rebar assessments. Platts proposes to reduce the frequency of its US domestic and import rebar assessments to weekly from daily. Furthermore Platts proposes to move the assessment day of Rebar/Ex-mill US Midwest to Friday from Monday to align with other US weekly rebar assessments.
Details of the assessments proposed for frequency reductions are as follows:
Rebar/US domestic EXW US Southeast, $/st - code STCBC00 Rebar/DDP Houston, $/st - code STCBG00 Rebar/N. America domestic Ex-mill US Midwest, $/st - code SB01202
Platts proposes to make these changes effective Friday, February 1st, 2019.
The last monthly assessment day for HDG Brazil and CRC Brazil will be January 2, 2019. The first weekly assessment of HDG Brazil and CRC Brazil will be February 1, 2019. The first weekly assessment of all three US rebar prices will be February 1, 2019.
