Platts will update the appendix of its global biofuels methodology and specifications guide to bring properties and test methods for Northwest European undenatured fuel ethanol in line with the latest edition of the EN 15376 standard. The maximum inorganic chloride content will be changed to 6 mg/kg from 20 mg/l; the product appearance will be changed to "clear and colorless" from "clear and bright"; and the phosphorous content will be changed to 0.15 mg/l from 0.5 mg/l. Test methods for verifying minimum ethanol content (including higher saturated alcohols), maximum higher saturated monoalcohols (C3-C5) content, maximum methanol content, appearance, maximum involatile material content and sulphur content, will also be updated. The Platts NWE ethanol assessments are for anhydrous undenatured ethanol conforming with the latest edition of the EN 15376 standard.
