Subscriber note: Platts proposes Algeciras low sulfur bunker assessments

Platts proposes to begin publishing assessments for low sulfur 380 and 180 CST bunker fuel in Spain's port of Algeciras with effect from February 1, 2013. The assessments would be published alongside the existing Platts assessments for high sulfur 380 and 180 CST bunker fuel in Algeciras. Algeciras bunker fuel assessments are published on a delivered basis. These new assessments would be found on Platts Global Alert page 1860, in Platts Bunkerwire, and in the Platts price assessments database. Since June, reported volumes of LSFO supplied in the southern Spanish port have increased on the back of the introduction of the North American Emission Control Area, which has prompted a doubling in the volume of low sulfur bunker fuel traded in the Mediterranean in general. Currently, both Repsol and Cepsa supply LSFO in the port. An ongoing 400,000 cubic meter expansion of storage facilities in the port, which is slated to be completed in 2013, is expected to further increase volumes of LSFO supplied from the port. Please send any feedback, comments or queries by January 15 to europe_products@platts.com and pricegroup@platts.com.
