Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, is proposing to launch new daily US Ex-works Southeast region R-PET assessments for curbside bottle bales and clear flake, effective Feb. 1, 2024, to reflect current market fundamentals.
All market information reported to Platts may be considered and would be published daily, including firm bids and offers, trades, and indicative values, as well as any other data deemed relevant to the assessment process.
The assessments would reflect spot prices at 4 pm CST daily for post-consumer curbside bottle bales and clear flake, and would reflect indications for ex-works North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia and Alabama.
Assessments would be published in line with the US publication schedule.
The Southeast assessment reflects mixed-colored bales, excluding black and solid colors, sold on an ex-works basis with a minimum PET content of 60% and gathered from a curbside collection process. Bales could consist of clear, transparent green, or transparent light blue bottles.
Location: The US Southeast assessment reflects bales on an ex-works Southeast basis and includes North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia and Alabama. Price information on trades from other areas, such as the US Northeast, may be normalized and taken into consideration.
Timing: The assessments reflect material picked up on the same day up to 30 days from the date of publication.
The US Southeast assessment reflects clear flake which has been through a hot-washed process and derived from 100% post-consumer recycled content, with an intrinsic viscosity of 0.72-0.78 dl/g and a PVC content no higher than 50 ppm.
Platts may also take into consideration US recycled PET of other specifications and may normalize price information to the standard.
Location: The US Southeast assessment reflects material to an ex-works Southeast basis and includes North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia and Alabama. Price information on trades from other areas, such as the US Northeast, may be normalized and taken into consideration.
Timing: The US Southeast assessment reflects material picked up 3-30 days from date of publication.
