Following feedback from market participants, S&P Global Platts is proposing to increase the maximum non-aromatics content allowed in its European mixed xylene assessments, effective January 27, 2020.
Based on market feedback, Platts understands that a significant proportion of mixed xylene production in Europe does not consistently meet a maximum 2% non-aromatics content.
Furthermore, Platts understands that market participants consider material with a maximum non-aromatics content up to 3% to be widely traded in Europe and consumed for the production of paraxylene.
As a result of this feedback, Platts is proposing to change the maximum non-aromatics content in its mixed xylene assessments from 2% to 3%.
