Following market feedback, Platts has decided to set a minimum n-hexane content specification of 45% and to remove the maximum content, currently set at 60%, in European hexane methodology. In addition, Platts has decided to set a maximum benzene content of 50 ppm and a maximum sulphur content of 200 ppm. Currently, Platts' European hexane methodology states that traded volume specifications should adhere to a minimum C6 (hexane, isomers, and methyl-cyclopentane) content of 98%. Product should have a maximum n-hexane content of 60%. Minimum boiling temperature of 65-70 degrees Celsius for food grade, 60-95 degrees C for adhesive grades. Platts plans to launch the methodology revisions on January 11, 2016. Please send any comments and queries to pl_petchems_ln@platts.com.
