SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts clarifies emissions roll dates for December Monthly Rolling Averages

Due to a change to a mid-December annual expiry date for price assessments for European Union Allowances under the EU Emissions Trading System and UN Certified Emission Reductions under the UN's Clean Development Mechanism, Platts Monthly Rolling Averages for both products will roll to the next forward delivery period in mid-December each year, moving from an end-November roll previously.

Since the last day of assessments for December 2014-dated EUAs and CERs is December 15, 2014, with effect from December 1, 2014, the MRAs for that month will be based on the average closing price for December 2014-dated EUA and CER prices in the period December 1-15.

For the period December 16-31, the MRAs for December will be based on the average closing price for December 2015-dated EUAs and CERs.

This will also be applicable to the month of December in future years, as determined by the expiry formula set out in Platts emissions methodology and specification guide.

The MRAs for the months January through November each year will remain unaffected by the change to annual expiry dates. Please send questions or comments to power@platts.com and coal@platts.com with copy to pricegroup@platts.com.
