The second generation biodiesel and feedstock markets have seen a rapid expansion over the last few years. This expansion is set to accelerate in the future as decarbonization agendas in aviation, land and marine transportation sectors increase demand for UCOME, Renewable Diesel and Sustainable Aviation Fuels. This puts a big emphasis on securing waste feedstocks and managing risks associated with it. Used Cooking Oil is the primary feedstock and Asia's importance in this market as the largest supply region is undeniable.
As a result, Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, observed a desire among market participants for increased transparency in market reporting as well as an interest in developing shared standards and best practices for the purposes of biofuels and feedstocks price reporting.
