Platts proposes to launch NWE Balance-Month Next-Day and calendar year derivative assessments

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, is proposing to launch a daily Balance-Month Next- Day (BalMo-ND) and calendar year Northwest European LNG derivative assessments against a time stamp of 4:30 pm London time, effective Jan. 16, 2025.

The BalMo-ND assessment would reflect the tradable value of the financially settled derivative contract, which settles against the remaining yet-to-be published assessments for the relevant NWE month, starting from the next day of publication.

The Platts NWE BalMo-ND derivatives assessment would be published from the first assessment day of a delivery month to the sixth last assessment day of the same delivery month.

For example, from Jan. 16, 2025 to Feb. 7, 2025, Platts would publish NWE BalMo-ND derivatives assessments for March deliveries.

The Platts NWE BalMo-ND derivative assessment would be published on each relevant business day and reflect market values prevailing at the close of European markets.

The proposed calendar year assessments would reflect the three calendar years ahead of the current calendar year.

The calendar year NWE LNG derivative assessments would be published on each business day and reflect derivatives that settle on the physical NWE assessment.

Calendar Year assessments would roll over on the first business day of a calendar year.

For example, on Dec. 31, 2025, Platts would assess Cal 2026 , 2027 and 2028, and on Jan. 2, 2026, Platts would assess Cal 2027 , 2028 and 2029 .

The proposed assessments would follow the Platts London publication calendar (opens in a new tab), and all prices would be published in dollars per million British thermal unit ($/MMBtu) to three decimal places.
