Platts clarifies import duty in India domestic ex-tank methanol assessments

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, would like to clarify that import duty is reflected in its India domestic ex-tank methanol assessments.

The ex-tank assessments include import duty, which currently totals 2.75% based on a basic customs duty (BCD) rate of 2.5% plus an additional 10% social welfare surcharge (SWS) levied on the BCD rate.

Platts would also like to remind subscribers that its India domestic ex-tank methanol assessment in US$/mt is the direct conversion from the domestic ex-tank methanol assessment in Rupees/kg, and does not represent the import parity price.

The affected assessments are found in Platts Asia Petrochemicalscan, Platts Petrochemical Alert pages 348, 449, 542 and 653, on the Petrochemical service on Platts Dimensions Pro and in the Platts price database under the following codes:
