November 20, 2024
Platts publishes this data from the Center of Emissions Excellence, also part of S&P Global Commodity Insights.
These crude carbon intensity values will be expanded to include the additional units of gCO 2 e/MJ from Dec. 13 for all crude grades published by S&P Global Commodity Insights. Reporting in both gCO 2 e/MJ and kgCO 2 e/ bbl gives the complete information needed to enable the user to fully characterize and analyze the crude grades.
The new units will be available for the following grades:
Al-Shaheen | Saharan Blend | Istmo | Payara |
Arab Light | Troll | Jubarte | Roncador |
Das Blend | Alaskan North Slope | Liza | Rubiales |
Dubai | Bakken | Maya | Tupi |
Murban | Canadon Seco | Medanito | Unity |
Oman | Castilla Blend | Merey 16 | Vasconia |
Upper Zakum | Cuban Heavy | Mixed Sweet Blend | WTI Midland |
Brent | Eagle Ford | Napo | West Texas Intermediate (Cushing) |
Ekofisk | Escalante | Olmeca | West Texas Intermediate (MEH) |
Forties | Galeota Mis | Oriente | Wyoming Sweet |
Oseberg |
These additional values will not impact the crude grade carbon intensity premiums currently published by Platts, which utilize carbon intensity calculations produced by the Center of Emissions Excellence in kgCO 2 e/bbl.
