Platts to launch additional units for existing crude carbon intensity calculations

Platts publishes this data from the Center of Emissions Excellence, also part of S&P Global Commodity Insights.

These crude carbon intensity values will be expanded to include the additional units of gCO 2 e/MJ from Dec. 13 for all crude grades published by S&P Global Commodity Insights. Reporting in both gCO 2 e/MJ and kgCO 2 e/ bbl gives the complete information needed to enable the user to fully characterize and analyze the crude grades.

The new units will be available for the following grades:

Al-Shaheen Saharan Blend Istmo Payara
Arab Light Troll Jubarte Roncador
Das Blend Alaskan North Slope Liza Rubiales
Dubai Bakken Maya Tupi
Murban Canadon Seco Medanito Unity
Oman Castilla Blend Merey 16 Vasconia
Upper Zakum Cuban Heavy Mixed Sweet Blend WTI Midland
Brent Eagle Ford Napo West Texas Intermediate (Cushing)
Ekofisk Escalante Olmeca West Texas Intermediate (MEH)
Forties Galeota Mis Oriente Wyoming Sweet
Oseberg

These additional values will not impact the crude grade carbon intensity premiums currently published by Platts, which utilize carbon intensity calculations produced by the Center of Emissions Excellence in kgCO 2 e/bbl.
