Platts to continue assessing RBOB and CBOB year-round following EPA ruling

S&P Global Platts will continue assessing US RBOB and CBOB as separate grades year-round following an October Environmental Protection Agency ruling streamlining RBOB requirements.

The EPA ruling announced Oct. 15 moves away from the Volatile Organic Compound performance standard, setting an RVP of 7.4 psi for summer RBOB.

Platts US Gulf Coast gasoline assessments reflect Colonial Pipeline specifications, and will continue to do so. The pipeline company has said it will continue to ship regular and premium RBOB and CBOB and keep RBOB and PBOB winter RVP requirements unchanged.

Similarly, in the US Atlantic Coast and Chicago, Platts will continue to reflect relevant pipeline specifications.

Platts will continue to monitor the upcoming changes and pipeline announcements, and gather feedback from the market regarding the impact of the EPA changes to gasoline markets across the US.
