SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts proposes to reduce max sulfur content for Durban MGO bunkers assessment

Following observed changes in South Africa's bunker fuel market, S&P Global Platts proposes to reduce the maximum sulfur content reflected in the delivered Durban Marine Gasoil assessment [PUAGY00, monthly average PUAGY03]. The current 1.5% sulfur limit would be reduced to a 0.1%. It is proposed the change would take effect from February 1, 2019.

The proposed change is prompted by Platts' understanding that the majority of traded volumes at the port are now for 0.1% low sulfur MGO.
