Platts proposes to discontinue average bunker cost assessments for 3 container routes

S&P Global Platts is proposing to discontinue its daily, weekly and monthly VLSFO and LSMGO average bunker cost and bunker cost index assessments for three container shipping routes -- East Coast South America to US Gulf Coast, Europe to West Coast Africa and North Asia to East Coast Africa -- effective March 1, 2022.

The proposed discontinuation, which will affect the front haul and backhaul legs on the three routes, is part of a streamlining of Platts data sets.

Platts will continue to publish the front haul and backhaul Platts Bunker Charges for the three routes: East Coast South America to US Gulf Coast, Europe to West Coast Africa and North Asia to East Coast Africa.
