S&P Global Platts is proposing to publish the total value of the sulfur penalty for thermal coal exported from the US Gulf Coast in its daily Physical Thermal Coal Netbacks table. The total value is already calculated on a daily basis based on the value of per 0.1% sulfur (COPAP00) and is factored into the existing FOB US Gulf Coast netback (COUGU00), but it is not published. The total value will be shown in $/mt and will publish daily in Coal Trader and Coal Trader International, and Global Coal Alert Page 230 and Market Data category CO. The new price would begin publishing January 30, 2017. Please address any questions or comments by December 1, 2016, to coal@platts.com and pricemethodology@platts.com. For written comments, please provide a clear indication if comments are not intended for publication by Platts for public viewing. Platts will consider all comments received and will make comments not marked as confidential available upon request.
