Platts launches NAR equivalent values of 8 existing thermal coal prices in GAR

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has launched NAR (net as received) equivalent values of eight existing thermal coal assessments, currently published in GAR (gross as received), from Nov. 15, 2023.

Below are the existing assessments in GAR and their equivalents in NAR:-

FOB Kalimantan 3,800 kcal/kg GAR [CSCKJ00] <=> FOB Kalimantan 3,400 kcal/kg NAR [CTCAD00]

FOB Kalimantan 4,200 kcal/kg GAR [CSBKI00] <=> FOB Kalimantan 3,800 kcal/kg NAR [CTCAA00]

FOB Kalimantan 5,000 kcal/kg GAR [CSAKI00] <=> FOB Kalimantan 4,700 kcal/kg NAR [CTCAB00]

FOB Kalimantan 5,900 kcal/kg GAR [CSAKH00] <=> FOB Kalimantan 5,600 kcal/kg NAR [CTCAC00]

CFR India West 4,200 kcal/kg GAR [TCAKT00] <=> CFR India West 3,800 kcal/kg NAR [TCBKT00]

CFR India West 5,000 kcal/kg GAR (TCAKP00) <=> CFR India West 4,700 kcal/kg NAR [TCBKP00]

CFR India East 4,200 kcal/kg GAR [TCAKU00] <=> CFR India East 3,800 kcal/kg NAR [TCBKU00]

CFR India East 5,000 kcal/kg GAR [TCAKJ00] <=> CFR India East 4,700 kcal/kg NAR [TCBKJ00]

Market survey results suggested the NAR values, which are calculated after factoring in the hydrogen, moisture and oxygen content in the GAR equivalents, would add more value to the existing assessments.

The assessment follows the Singapore daily publishing schedule, reflecting the market as of 5:30 pm Singapore time (0930 GMT).

The NAR values of the above mentioned eight prices appears in fixed pages, with number GCI0410, GCI0420, PEPO910, GCI0410, and PEPO911.
