Platts proposes to revise the European hexane methodology to set a minimum n-hexane content specification of 45% and to remove the maximum content currently set at 60% in the methodology.
In addition, Platts also plans to set a maximum benzene content of 50ppm and a maximum sulfur content of 200ppm.
Currently, the Platts European hexane methodology states that traded volume specifications should adhere to a minimum C6 (hexane, isomers, and methyl-cyclopentane) content of 98%. Product should have a maximum n-hexane content of 60%. Minimum boiling temperature of 65-70 degrees Celsius for food grade, 60-95 degrees for adhesive grades.
Platts plans to launch the methodology revisions on January 4, 2016.
