Electric Power, Energy Transition, Natural Gas, Hydrogen
November 12, 2024
Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, will not publish a number of its US hydrogen cost valuation assessments using steam methane reforming technology Nov. 12 following the Veterans Day holiday.
This follows a pricing holiday for North American natural gas assessments on Nov. 11. These natural gas assessments serve as feedstock inputs for a number of hydrogen cost valuation assessments, and as a result, some daily hydrogen assessments for Nov. 11, published on Nov. 12, will be impacted.
Platts notes that hydrogen valuations typically follow the respective holiday calendars for each region, as detailed in the published methodology. In certain hubs, including Alberta (Canada) and most US hubs, some hydrogen valuations via proton exchange membrane (PEM) or alkaline electrolysis may continue to publish during respective holiday periods due to the automated collection of electricity inputs from third parties.
