S&P Global Platts is proposing making Dec. 27, 2021, a non-publishing day for commodity price assessments in Asia, in line with Christmas holidays elsewhere, as well as publishing assessments on certain other days through the year at an earlier close, ahead of regional holidays.
Under this proposal, no assessments or services out of Asia would be published on Dec. 27, which is also the observed Christmas holiday in the UK and parts of Europe. The US price assessment hub in Houston will observe the Christmas holiday on Dec. 24, 2021.
Platts aims to publish assessments at times of broad market activity and liquidity, particularly in the physical markets, and early feedback suggests a non-publishing day for Singapore when the UK is also closed over this period would help mitigate any impact from possible lower than usual East/West trading, at a time of year when activity is commonly already at reduced levels.
Platts invites feedback on this proposal, and additionally proposed early closes (12:30 pm SGT) on the following dates in Singapore:
Feb. 11, 2021 Day before Lunar New Year
April 1, 2021 Day before Good Friday
May 12, 2021 Day before Hari Raya Puasa
May 25, 2021 Day before Vesak Day
July 19, 2021 Day before Hari Raya Haji
Nov. 3, 2021 Day before Deepavali
Dec. 24, 2021 Christmas Eve

Platts welcomes any feedback on the proposed holiday calendar, preferably by Nov. 23 for the items mentioned above.
