Platts modifies proposed changes to Algonquin receipts index methodology

Platts, a part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has modified proposed changes to remove various interconnects from its Algonquin, receipts daily index, including Beverly-Salem, Brookfield, and Mendon, effective from trade date Dec. 30 and flow date Jan. 1.

Platts has observed that trades done at Beverly-Salem have transacted at a premium to other locations in the Algonquin, receipts index (IGBDK21 ex) since the beginning of 2023.

Additionally, Platts has not seen a reported trade go into the Algonquin, receipts index from Brookfield in 2023 or Mendon since 2018.

This revised proposal follows a period of market feedback after publishing a proposal note Oct. 13.

The new methodology would be as follows:

Algonquin, receipts (daily market only)

Deliveries into Algonquin Gas Transmission starting at the Lambertville, New Jersey, interconnect with Texas Eastern Transmission easterly to the Ramapo, New York, interconnect with Columbia Gas Transmission. Deliveries into Algonquin Gas Transmission east of Ramapo are not included.

Platts will consider all comments received and will make comments not marked as confidential available upon request.
