Platts seeks feedback on 2021 pricing holiday calendar

S&P Global Platts is proposing making Monday, Dec. 27, 2021, a non-publishing day for commodity price assessments in Asia, in observance of Christmas.

Under this proposal, no assessments or services out of Asia would be published on this day, which is also the observed Christmas holiday in the UK and parts of Europe. The US price assessment hub in Houston will observe the Christmas holiday on Dec. 24, 2021.

Platts aims to publish assessments at times of broad market activity and liquidity, particularly in the physical markets, and early feedback suggests a non-publishing day for Singapore when the UK is also closed over this period would help mitigate any impact from possible lower than usual East/West trading, at a time of year when activity is commonly already at reduced levels.

Platts invites feedback on this proposal, and additionally proposed early closes (12:30 pm SGT) on the following dates in Singapore:

Feb 11 2021 Day before Lunar New Year

Apr 1 2021 Day before Good Friday

May 12, 2021 Day before Hari Raya Puasa

May 25, 2021 Day before Vesak Day

July 19, 2021 Day before Hari Raya Haji

Nov 3, 2021 Day before Deepavali

Dec 24, 2021 Christmas Eve
