Platts is proposing to clarify and amend the specifications for its price assessment for silicomanganese Std 16-20% Si Eur and to align the naming convention for the assessment across Metals Week, Platts Metals Alert and Platts' internal database.
The new specifications reflect what has prevailed in the market and will not result in change to the data history or the consistency of the data going forward.
The name as it appears in Metals Week and Platts Metals Alert will change to Silicomanganese 65:16 DDP NWE. The specification will be for volumes of 300-1,000 mt, delivered DDP northwest Europe basis for delivery within four weeks. Specification includes P content 0.25% and C content 1.5%.
Assessment will be in Eur/mt and conducted on Thursday (or the closest business day in the case of holidays) through a survey of producers, traders and steel mill buyers.
