Platts is proposing to clarify and amend the specifications for its price assessment for ferrochrome high C 52% Cr Europe, and to align the naming convention for the assessment across Metals Week, Platts Metals Alert and Platts' internal database.
The new specifications reflect what has prevailed in the market and will not result in a change to the data history or the consistency of the data going forward.
The name as it appears in Metals Week and Platts Metals Alert will change to Charge Chrome 52% DDP NWE.
Platts is proposing to expand the range for assessment purposes to 48-52% grades from a previous range of 50-52%, normalized to a Si content of maximum 6-8% and P content 0.030%. The specification will be normalized to volumes of 200-500 mt, delivered DDP northwest Europe basis, for delivery within 4 weeks, net-30 days payment. Assessment will be in $/lb and conducted on Thursday (or the closest business day in the case of holidays) through a survey of producers, traders and steel mill buyers.
