Platts is proposing to discontinue, effective May 31, 2011, its daily assessment for the FirstEnergy Hub, which will no longer function as a trading hub as of that date.
FirstEnergy is moving from the Midwest Independent Transmission System Operator (MISO) to the PJM Interconnection effective June 1, 2011. The MISO grid operator established the FirstEnergy Hub as a trading hub April 1, 2007. The PJM grid operator has no plans to continue operating the FirstEnergy Hub as a trading hub following FirstEnergy's move into PJM.
The FirstEnergy assessment is published in Megawatt Daily and Platts Energy Trader, and on Platts Electricity Alert page 502. It is also available with other electricity assessments via Platts Dispatch services under Dispatch category ES. The final assessment for the hub will be for trade date May 30, 2011, and flow date May 31, 2011.
