SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts changes methodology for domestic Brazil PE assessments

Following market feedback, S&P Global Platts has adjusted the volume size of its domestic Brazilian polyethylene assessments, effective November 8.

Platts' domestic Brazilian assessments for all grades of PE -- HDPE blowmolding, HDPE injection, HDPE film, LLDPE butene and LDPE -- will reflect 100-500 mt/month buyers while factoring local taxes (PIS and COFINS) of 9.25%-11.75%.

Previously, Platts considered 500-1,500 mt/month buyers in its assessment methodology and did not specifically address the inclusion of PIS and COFINS.

Domestic Brazil assessments reflect a delivered Sao Paulo (South and Southeastern Brazil) price and are for resins delivered by truck three to 30 days out. The price is assessed in Brazilian Real/mt with a letter of credit of 28-35 days.
