S&P Global Platts proposes publishing two new daily Supramax dry bulk grains freight assessments, reflecting the growing trade for grains from the Black Sea to Southeast Asia and from South America to China, effective February 1, 2019. The following new assessments are proposed:
Yuzhny, Ukraine to Cigading, Indonesia, 50,000 mt grains
Santos, Brazil to Qingdao, China, 50,000 mt grains
The assessments would be based on modern Supramax tonnage and would reflect the cost of transporting a 50,000 mt (plus/minus 10%) grains cargo on a 57,000 dwt Supramax dry bulk vessel from loading port to discharge port and will be published on a dollar per metric ton basis.
