SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts proposes to change RVO calculations in line with EPA

Platts proposes to change the calculated values of the published US Renewable Volume Obligation in line with the final volumes requirements for 2014, 2015 and 2016, as announced by the US Environmental Protection Agency by November 30, 2015.

RVO is the aggregate cost of the Renewable Identification Number percentages per gallon of transportation fuel as the US Environmental Protection Agency mandated in the Renewable Fuel Standard Program (RFS2). Platts calculates these RVO values factoring the value of biodiesel, ethanol, advanced biofuel and cellulosic biofuel RIN credits as assessed by Platts for the respective RVO years; RINs are assessed as cents/RIN.

Platts will continue to publish the RVO cost values for three revolving years: Year 1, Year 2, and Year 3. These calculations will follow the schedule for Platts RIN assessments found on Platts Biofuels Alert on page PB0010. The assessments impacted by the proposed change are; 2014 RVO, 2015 RVO and 2016 RVO published in the Platts Biofuelscan and appearing in the Platts Biofuels Alert under codes RVOY014, RVOY015 and RVOY016 respectively.
