Platts maintains component weightings for Conventional Energy Index for 2025

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, will maintain current weightings for all components under the Platts Conventional Energy Index [ANVEA00] for 2025, following a review of available statistics.

The index reflects the physical prices of global primary energy mix from conventional energy sources such as oil, gas, coal and nuclear. The weightings for these primary energy sources, shown in the table below, remain unchanged and are based on "Global Primary Energy Consumption by Fuel" for year 2023 from Energy Institute Statistical Review of World Energy (2024). The index weightings reflect the proportion of global energy consumption by source, excluding renewables. The weightings are reviewed annually to keep the index representative of global supply and demand trends.

Energy Source Weighting
Crude Oil 37%
Gas (including LNG) 27%
Coal 31%
Nuclear 5%
