Platts launches unsubsidised waste European biomethane GO assessments

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has launched daily assessments for unsubsidized waste feedstock biomethane guarantees of origin (GOs) in the Netherlands and Denmark, on Nov. 1, 2024.

The daily assessments are for the current-year and year-ahead vintages for both the unsubsidized Netherlands and Denmark markets, utilizing the current CI value definition range for waste certificates of 25 g to 0 g CO2e/MJ.

Due to the growth in compliance markets in Europe which require the use of unsubsidized biomethane to fulfill, the new assessments will reflect the traded prices into this increasingly relevant segment of the market.

Compliance markets refer to related biofuels tickets, domestic blending requirements, etc.

The unsubsidized Netherlands and Denmark waste assessments are published in Eur/MWh.

The assessments are published on a 4:30 pm London timestamp.

Details of the new Platts European Biomethane GO assessments are as follows:

  • DBGOA00 Denmark Biomethane Guarantees of Origin (GO) Unsubsidised Waste Spot Eur/MWh
  • DBGOA01 Denmark Biomethane Guarantees of Origin (GO) Unsubsidised Waste Eur/MWh Yr01
  • DBGOB00 Netherlands Biomethane Guarantees of Origin (GO) Unsubsidised Waste Spot Eur/MWh

These symbols can be found on the fixed pages PGN0876, PEP1107, and LNG0841, as well as in European Gas Daily, REC Daily, in Platts Market Data category EBM and on Platts Connect.
