Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has started reflecting an initial delivery window of three days, with the buyer to narrow the period to a one-day final delivery delivery window, as the standard for the JKM LNG Market on Close assessment process from Nov. 1, 2022.
The change follows industry feedback indicating that a more specific standard for delivery windows has emerged in the North Asia LNG spot market. Platts first proposed reflecting a delivery period standard for the assessment in a subscriber note published Aug. 30: https://www.spglobal.com/commodityinsights/en/our-methodology/subscriber-notes/083022-platts-proposes-delivery-period-standard-for-jkm-lng-moc-from-nov-1.
The buyer will retain the option to narrow to a single-day delivery window 30 days before the first day of a three-day initial delivery window.
Platts will continue to publish bids and offers with initial delivery periods of three days to five days long, and the buyer narrowing to one- or two-day final delivery windows.
Platts may normalize bids and offers to the standard for the assessment.
Under Platts previous editorial guidelines, the delivery period reflected by bids and offers should typically be 3-5 days, with the buyer narrowing that to a one- or two-day delivery window 30 days before the first day of the initial delivery window.
The change applies to bids and offers submitted by market participants in the JKM MOC directly through the Platts Editorial Window, or eWindow, communication tool and through a Platts editor who will then publish bids and offers using the software.
