S&P Global Platts has amended the size reflected in its used cooking oil North Asia assessment to bulk volume of 3,000 mt to 10,000 mt parcels, effective Nov. 1, 2021.
Platts first proposed this change in a subscriber note published Sept. 15, 2021: https://www.spglobal.com/platts/en/our-methodology/subscriber-notes/091521-platts-proposes-volume-methodology-change-for-uco-north-asia-assessment.
Platts UCO North Asia assessment, in $/mt, previously reflected 300-1,500 mt flexi bags loaded in containers. Platts has observed that UCO physical market activity has shifted from containers to bulk due to greater demand from destination markets, and the change reflects the most relevant volume in its physical assessment.
The UCO North Asia ($/mt) assessment appears on Platts Biofuel (PBF) Alert pages 2310, 2311 and 2312, in Platts Biofuelscan, and in the Platts price database under the following codes:
Assessment Code
UCO North Asia AUCOC00
UCO North Asia MAvg AUCOC03
UCO North Asia WAvg AUCOC04
