SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts uses LSMGO price in some TCE assessments

Following a period of industry consultation and feedback, S&P Global Platts is using the low sulfur marine gasoil (LSMGO) price instead of the marine gasoil value in some of its dry bulk time charter equivalent (TCE) assessments, effective November 1, 2017.

Platts has discontinued its Hong Kong marine gasoil delivered bunker assessment from November 1. Platts on June 1, 2017, had launched LSMGO assessments at a number of Asian ports including Hong Kong.

Platts first proposed the use of LSMGO in some of its TCE assessments in a subscriber note published September 8 (https://platts.com/subscriber-notes-details/27870738).

The dry bulk TCE assessments affected are:

Route Vessel Load port Discharge Platts Delivery port symbol PPTCE48 South China East Kalimantan, Indonesia Guangzhou CRYAC00 PSTCE22 South China East Kalimantan, Indonesia Guangzhou CRYAB00

Since April 1, 2014, sales of marine light diesel within Hong Kong have been restricted to a maximum 0.05% sulfur or 500 ppm.
