Platts is seeking comments on a proposal to change the calorific value basis of its weekly 90-day Russian Baltic 6,400 kcal/kg GAR and Poland Baltic 6,300 kcal/kg GAR thermal coal price assessments to 6,000 kcal/kg NAR. Platts has determined that the new calorific value is closer to most of of thermal coal bought by European buyers, particularly into Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp, and believes this should be reflected in these two assessments. Platts is proposing to implement this change on January 2, 2015.
Please provide feedback or submit questions by November 24, 2014 to the coal desk at coal@platts.com with a cc to Platts price group at pricegroup@platts.com.
