October 28, 2024
Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, has launched new daily energy price spreads between ammonia and thermal coal prices for Japan, effective Oct. 28.
The spreads reflect the price difference between low-carbon ammonia and thermal coal delivered to Japan on an energy-parity basis. The Japanese government has implemented a contract-for-difference scheme whereby it will pay the difference between low-carbon hydrogen and derivatives and existing fuels prices, such as coal and LNG. Platts publishes the following spreads:
Description | $/MMBTU | Yen/KWh | $/MWh |
Japan Renewable Ammonia (Australia Origin) - NEAT Coal Energy Spread | JRACD00 | JRAAY00 | JRAAC00 |
Japan Renewable Ammonia (Middle East Origin) - NEAT Coal Energy Spread | JRAME00 | JRMEY00 | JRMEC00 |
Japan Renewable Ammonia (Canada Origin) - NEAT Coal Energy Spread | JRACC00 | JRCCY00 | JRCCE00 |
Japan Korea low-carbon ammonia prices (JKAP) - NEAT Coal Energy Spread | JJKAD00 | JJKAY00 | JJKAP00 |
These spreads will be published in Coal Trader International and will also continue to be published as a graph in Platts Hydrogen Daily.
