SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts to discontinue FOB Richards Bay 6,000 NAR thermal coal

S&P Global Platts proposes to discontinue its price assessments for thermal coal basis 6,000 kcal/kg NAR physical coal grades loaded from Richards Bay, South Africa, and delivered into India with effect from January 27, 2017.

Following a period of market consultation, Platts has determined that the majority of thermal coal exported from South Africa is in the 5,500-5,700 kcal/kg NAR range, the bulk of which is shipped to the Indian market.

This tradeflow is reflected by the existing FOB Richards Bay 5,500 kcal/kg NAR 7-45 day $/mt price under code AAXEX00.
