Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, proposes to discontinue the weekly methanol CFR India freight netback assessment, effective Jan. 16, on its increasingly limited representation of the spot market.
The price is currently calculated as a net forward from FOB Middle East value, which, in turn, is calculated as a netback from CFR China.
The affected assessment appears in Asian Petrochemicalscan, Platts Dimensions Pro and Platts Market Center (PCA0348, PCA0412 and PCA0449) and under the following price database codes:
Description | Weekly code | Monthly average code |
Methanol CFR India Freight Netback | AABAG00 | AABAH00 |
The Indian methanol market has been trading independently on an outright basis.
Platts will continue publishing its daily methanol CFR India assessment (MLCFI00) to reflect spot cargoes for methanol delivered into India. This assessment was launched in 2021 and the details of this launch can be found in the following subscriber note: https://www.spglobal.com/commodityinsights/en/our-methodology/subscriber-notes/100121-platts-launches-new-cfr-india-methanol-daily-assessment-oct1-2021
