Platts has revised the Asian solvent-grade mixed xylenes quality specification to conform to the international standards and equivalent, effective October 16, 2018. Platts revised the Asian solvent-grade mixed xylenes to include a maximum non-aromatics content of 4%. Solvent-MX with a lower or higher non-aromatics content than 4% will be normalized back to such a value. This proposal to change the quality specification of Asian solvent-grade mixed xylenes follows research and market feedback on the quality specification. This affects Platts weekly assessments for FOB Korea, CFR Southeast Asia and CFR China.
The revision will also affect the CFR India assessment, which was launched on October 5, 2018. Please send any feedback or questions to petchems@spglobal.com and pricemethodology@spglobal.com. For written comments, please provide a clear indication if comments are not intended for publication by Platts for public viewing. Platts will consider all comments received and will make comments not marked as confidential available upon request.
