SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts launches new Powder River Basin thermal coal assessment

S&P Global Platts has launched a new weekly US thermal coal assessment to reflect the value of Powder River Basin coal, starting October 18.

The new assessment reflects the following specifications:

• PRB 9,400 Btu/lb, 0.8 lbs SO2/MMBtu.

The assessment will reflect the value for front quarter delivery at rail origin points in Montana. The price will be reported in $/st.

The assessment will be published weekly in Coal Trader from October 18.
