SUBSCRIBER NOTE: Platts to publish four additional phosphorus penalty bands

S&P Global Platts will publish four additional phosphorus penalty bands from November 1, 2018.

Platts received positive market feedback to the proposal.

Market participants across the supply chain said the assessments could provide more granular penalty assessments for phosphorus in the spot market.

Platts will launch four additional Phosphorus Penalty Bands for 60%-63.5% Fe iron ore fines delivered on CFR Qingdao in addition to its already existing 0.09%-0.12% penalty band.

The specification of the four additional bands will be: Within 0.09-0.10% Within 0.10-0.11% Within 0.11-0.12% Within 0.12-0.15%

The assessments will be displayed as an outright penalty amount, in USD/dry metric ton, for each band.

Platts will continue to assess its current phosphorus assessment: IOPPQ00: Per 0.01% Phosphorus within Min-Max 0.09%-0.12% P.

Platts will assess these brands timestamped to 5.30 pm Singapore/Beijing time on a daily basis.

Platts will take into account the typical specifications of Phosphorus for each brand in determining these assessments.
