Platts to discontinue seven fertilizer freight assessments

Platts, part of S&P Global Commodity Insights, will, following a proposal period, discontinue a number of weekly freight assessments for ammonia, urea, urea ammonium nitrate (UAN) and ammonium sulfate (AS), effective Jan. 2, 2024.

Platts will discontinue these freight assessments in response to changing fertilizer trade flows.

The affected assessments appear in the Ammonia Market Report, Urea Market Report and Nitrates Market Report only, and are not currently available via Platts Connect.

Assessments Impacted:

Ammonia Freight Baltic NW Europe 4-15kt $/mt

Ammonia Freight Black Sea NW Europe 23.5kt $/mt

Ammonia Freight Black Sea Morocco 23.5kt $/mt

Urea Freight Black Sea West Coast Mexico 20-25kt $/mt

Urea Ammonium Nitrate Baltic (Non-Russian) EC USA 35kt $/mt

Urea Ammonium Nitrate Baltic (Non-Russian) Argentina 30kt $/mt

Platts originally proposed the discontinuation of eight fertilizer freight assessments on Oct. 2 in a subscriber note available at https://www.spglobal.com/commodityinsights/en/our-methodology/subscriber-notes/100223-platts-proposes-to-discontinue-eight-fertilizer-freight-assessments.

Platts continues to seek feedback on continued coverage of the Urea Freight Black Sea Brazil 25-30kt $/mt route.
