Following a review of feedback, Platts confirms that it will discontinue its Jet Fuel FOB Mediterranean Premium assessment, effective January 2, 2014. Existing Platts FOB and CIF Med netback assessments for jet fuel, which are published on an outright price basis, will not be affected by the discontinuation of this FOB differential. Platts first proposed discontinuing the Jet FOB Med Premium assessment in a subscriber note published on May 3. The discontinuation reflects changing supply and demand trends in the region, which have constrained the regular availability and liquidity of spot cargos of jet fuel in the Mediterranean. Platts introduced a freight netback-derived CIF Med jet assessment in October 2012 to reflect the increased relevance of jet fuel being brought into the Med on larger tankers from the Persian Gulf, India and Far East. Platts welcomes further feedback and questions to europe_products@platts.com, with a cc to pricegroup@platts.com. Please send all comments by November 1, 2013. For written comments, please provide a clear indication if comments are not intended for publication by Platts for public viewing. Platts will consider all comments received and will make comments not marked as confidential available upon request.
